Hope The Situation In Pati Is Conducive, Gerindra Asks Regent Sadewo To Be Forgiven

JAKARTA - Deputy Chairman of Commission II of the DPR RI from the Gerindra faction, Bahtra Banong, hopes that the situation in Pati Regency, Central Java will be conducive after the Regent of Pati, Sudewo, apologized to the people for the arrogance that challenged residents regarding demonstrations.

The Regent of Sadewo previously raised the tax rate for the Land and Building of Rural and Urban Buildings (PBB-P2) in Pati to 250 percent before it was finally canceled following the controversial and protested by the people of Pati.

"He has been reprimanded by the party and has canceled the wrong policy and apologized publicly, this is part of an introspection and evaluation of a leader, that leading must have sensitivity and concern for the people, especially regarding policies," said Bahtra at the Jakarta parliament complex, Thursday, August 14.

Bahtra also hopes that the people of Pati are open to forgiveness and considering giving the Regent Sadewo the opportunity to lead Pati Regency until the end of his term of office.

"We all want regional heads who can hear the voices of the people, and this is a good first step to restore public trust," he said.

Bahtra assessed that after this incident, the local government's energy was immediately focused on development that was in favor of the interests of the community.

He also reminded all regional heads to take policies that do not harm and make it difficult for the people, especially those concerning the burden on the citizens, as ordered by President Prabowo Subianto.

This incident, he added, is also a lesson for regional heads to review comprehensively the policies that will be taken by involving public participation.

"Leaders are not just ordering, but ensuring policies are born from the aspirations of the people and not burdensome for their lives," said Bahtra.
