The Bekasi Metropolitan Police have appealed to residents, especially job seekers, to be aware of fraudulent work distribution agencies by first ensuring the legality of their business before registering as job applicants through this route.

"Work seekers in Bekasi Regency need to be more careful and not easily believe in offers from work distribution agencies whose legality is not yet clear. This is important so as not to become victims of fraudulent LPKs that have the potential to be financially detrimental," said Bekasi Metro Police Chief Kombes Mustofa, ANTARA, Wednesday, August 13, 2025.

He reminded job seekers to always ensure the validity of the work distribution agency by verifying their track record through the Bekasi Regency Manpower Office to avoid fraudulent practices.

"Check first to the Manpower Office. Whether the foundation is really registered in the service, can it really be a labor distributor, or recruits workers. That, please make sure first," he said.

Based on police records, there were two cases of labor fraud in the jurisdiction of Bekasi Regency which became a special concern for officers, namely in the districts of North Cikarang and Central Cikarang.

Of the two cases, 40 people have been victims, with details of 29 victims being deceived by a foundation in North Cikarang, while 11 other residents became victims of an individual in Central Cikarang.

"Because if we look at the two weeks, there are quite a lot of people, most recently 29 people, yesterday 11 people, 40 people have been victims of recruitment about labor," he said.

Mustofa continued the mode used by the perpetrators by offering and promising to the victims if they could be included in companies in the Bekasi Regency industrial area.

"The perpetrator persuaded the victims and promised that he could employ or fully enter the public into companies in Bekasi Regency," he said.

Based on the results of the officer's examination, the losses suffered by the victims varied from Rp. 2.5 million to Rp. 7 million in the two cases of fraud.

In addition, in recent times, Mustofa admitted that there were a number of similar reports related to employment recruitment fraud.

Several Polsek often get complaints through 110, in Tambun and Cikarang areas. Several times there have been reports of foundations claiming to recruit workers.

"However, after we visited the location of the foundation's office, it turned out that there was none," he said.
