Palembang SAR team, South Sumatra, deployed personnel to search for a toddler who went missing while playing on the banks of the Musi River, Muara Lakitan District, Musi Rawas Regency, Tuesday, August 12, 2025.

Head of the Palembang SAR Office, Raymond Konstantin, said that his party received a report on the incident at around 13.30 WIB and immediately deployed a team from the Lubuk Linggau SAR Post complete with search equipment in the waters.

"The victim is known as Razan bin Rio, aged two years, a resident of RT 10 Muara Lakitan Village, Muara Lakitan District, Musi Rawas Regency," said Raymond in Palembang, Antara, Wednesday, August 13, 2025.

According to Raymond, the incident began at around 11.00 WIB when the victim was seen playing in a car near the river behind his house.

At around 11.30 WIB, the mother looked for Razan at the location, but only found the victim's toy. Razan allegedly fell and drowned in the Musi River.

The search has been carried out since Tuesday afternoon by a joint SAR team consisting of the Palembang Basarnas, Lubuk Linggau SAR Post, TNI/Polri, village officials, volunteers, BPBD, and the local community. However, as of Wednesday morning the victim has not been found.

"This morning the search was resumed. The team was divided into two SRUs (Search and Rescue Units)," said Raymond.

The first SRU combed through the Musi River using rubber boats and boats belonging to residents as far as 20 kilometers to the northeast, as well as maneuvering to create waves of water so that objects at the bottom of the river could be lifted to the surface.

The second SRU prepares to dive if conditions allow and disseminate information to residents along the river. "We hope the victim is found soon," said Raymond.
