Synergy Improves Indonesian Migrant Workers Services, MenPANRB Visits Deputy Minister Of P2MI

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Protection of Indonesian Migrant Workers (KemenP2MI) strengthens institutional coordination with the Ministry of Administrative Reform and Bureaucratic Reform (KemenPANRB) as an effort to optimize protection for migrant workers.

Deputy Minister of P2MI Christina Aryani when meeting with the Minister of Administrative Reform and Bureaucratic Reform (MenPANRB) Rini Widyantini emphasized that cross-ministerial and institutional synergy is the key to ensuring fast, precise, and integrated services for migrant workers and prospective Indonesian migrant workers.

"We want to strengthen institutional coordination so that services and protection for migrant workers are more effective. The support of the Minister of Administrative Reform and Bureaucratic Reform is very important, especially in institutional arrangement, division of roles, and capacity building of apparatus," said Deputy Minister of P2MI in a statement, Wednesday, August 13, confiscated by Antara.

The Deputy Minister of P2MI assessed that strengthening institutional coordination would have a direct impact on improving the governance of placement and protection of migrant workers, as well as preventing potential problems in the field.

Meanwhile, MenPANRB Rini Widyantini conveyed the importance of cross-sectoral collaboration to be able to maximize efforts to strengthen the protection of migrant workers.

He said this collaboration was part of the government's commitment to overcome problems and improve the quality of the work environment for Indonesian migrant workers at home and abroad.

Strengthening cross-sectoral coordination and synergy is the key in dealing with issues to protect Indonesian migrant workers. Not only the issue of protection, this synergy is also important to expand the reach of the Indonesian market in the international arena," said Rini.

Furthermore, Rini emphasized that the travel to protect migrant workers in the era of President Prabowo Subianto experienced a significant leap. With the ministry's status, the Ministry of P2MI is said to have wider authority in each placement phase, starting from before, during, and after placement.

"The strong role of the Ministry of P2MI is in line with the protection of Indonesian Migrant Workers in the legal, social and economic aspects implemented in a sustainable and comprehensive principle," said Rini.

In addition to coordination and institutional collaboration, the meeting also discussed efforts to strengthen the protection of other migrant workers through the revision of the Migrant Workers Protection Act. This revision is one of the major steps for strengthening governance in the implementation of the protection of Indonesian migrant workers.
