The Forest Area Control Task Force (PKH) together with the West Sumatra High Prosecutor's Office (Kejati) have brought order to 8,000 hectares of forest land in South Solok Regency, West Sumatra.
"The PKH Task Force team together with the West Sumatra Prosecutor's Office have carried out land control operations in South Solok," said Head of the Legal Information Section of the West Sumatra Prosecutor's Office M Rasyid in Padang, Antara, Sunday, August 10.
He explained that the control was carried out for five consecutive days against two corporations, with details of 4,593 hectares from the first corporation and 3,540 hectares from the second corporation.
According to Rasyid, the control operation began with clarification to registered and unregistered land owners. The two corporations targeted for operation were PT BRM and PT IM.
After that, the team in the field installed a ban sign containing the announcement 'forbidden from entering forest land without permission, damaging, looting, stealing, embezzling, collecting crops or plants, trading, and controlling without the permission of the authorities'.
The operation took longer because one of the corporations owned land spread across three administrative areas, namely Sijunjung, Dharmasraya, and South Solok Regencies.
"Conditions in the field show that in areas outside of the Right to Use Business (HGU) there are also palm oil plants," he said.
Rasyid added that the team hopes that this control can restore the forest ecosystem and prevent wider environmental damage.
