DENPASAR - Minister of Home Affairs (Mendagri) Tito Karnavian asked all regional heads to make policies to consider social aspects so that they are more pro-people.

This was conveyed by Tito in response to the incident in Pati, Central Java, where the Regent of Sudewo raised the tax on the earth and rural and urban buildings (PBB-P2) in 2025 to 250 percent which he said did not consider the capabilities of the community.

"I ask other regional heads to make policies not only to look at the legal normative aspects, but also to consider social aspects, what will the impact on society be," he said, Friday, August 8.

It is known that the increase in taxes aimed at development in the area was finally canceled, but Sadewo said the cancellation of the tax increase had an impact on the postponement of a number of developments.

Minister of Home Affairs Tito then reminded other regional heads that even though the levies to collect are used to support local revenue, it does not mean that the community's ability in it is aligned.

"Don't generalize it, there are people who can afford it, there are also those who can't afford it, the increase of Rp. 10,000-Rp. 15,000 means for people who can't afford it," he said.

"So, I ask other regional heads to help in making policies, really consider various aspects, including the social aspects of community ability," he continued.

Tito reminded that currently under the leadership of President Prabowo the government is actively carrying out pro-people programs, so that regional heads should also do the same.

"We will see, today is this village cooperative meeting, then free nutritious food, people's schools, all programs show our leader is pro-people, let's not make policies that make people even more difficult," said Tito Karnavian.

Against the Regent of Pati, before finally the tax increase policy was lifted, the Ministry of Home Affairs had dropped to find out the substance of the policies made.

Minister of Home Affairs Tito has also advised the Regent of Pati to take into account the people's capabilities, not to burden them, such as how the central government makes current policies.

After this, Tito hopes that the people of Pati will calm down and return to their daily activities as usual, the regent has also confirmed that he will evaluate himself.

"After it is revoked automatically I hope that the community will also be calm, then work as usual and I think the regent has also considered all input, let's work together again," said the Minister of Home Affairs.
