Police Thwart Smuggling Of 3 Kg Of Crystal Methamphetamine From Pekanbaru To Palu, Perpetrators Promised Rp40 Million

Palu Police thwarted an attempt to smuggle more than 3 kilograms of methamphetamine by a man from Pekanbaru, Riau.

Palu Police Chief Kombes Deny Abrahams said the perpetrator with the initials MF (20) from Aceh was secured at Mutiara SIS Al-Jufri Airport, Palu, on Tuesday, August 5, shortly after landing.

From the hands of the perpetrators, the police confiscated six packages of methamphetamine weighing a total of 3,020 grams or 3.02 kilograms hidden in a suitcase.

"The perpetrator got methamphetamine from someone he didn't know in Pekanbaru," said Deny in Palu, Antara, Thursday, August 7.

This disclosure stems from information received by the Palu Police from the Riau Police regarding the plan to send methamphetamine by air. The police then conducted a sweep and monitoring at the airport.

Before MF was arrested, the fellow perpetrator with the initials A was first secured by the police in Pekanbaru with 2 kilograms of methamphetamine as evidence.

From the results of the examination, MF admitted that he was only a courier who was ordered to deliver packages to Palu City. He was promised a salary of Rp. 40 million. On his way, MF had transited in Jakarta, Surabaya, and Makassar before arriving in Palu.

“Jaringan ini terputus. Pelaku tidak mengenal pemberi maupun penerima barang. Kami masih melakukan pengembangan, bekerja sama dengan Polda Riau,” ujar Deny.

Kini, MF dijerat dengan Undang-Undang Nomor 35 Tahun 2009 tentang Narkotika, Pasal 114 Ayat 2 subsider Pasal 112 Ayat 2. Ia terancam hukuman mati atau penjara seumur hidup.

Now, MF is charged with Law Number 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics, Article 114 Paragraph 2 subsidiary Article 112 Paragraph 2. He faces the death penalty or life imprisonment.
