Ali Nurdin Calls Nadiem Makarim Ready To Explain Google Cloud Procurement To KPK Investigators

JAKARTA - Former Minister of Education and Technology Nadiem Makarim is ready to explain the procurement of Google Cloud, which is currently being investigated by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK).

This was conveyed by lawyer Ali Nurdin who accompanied Nadiem when he was present at the KPK's Merah Putih building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta today, August 7. He said his client would cooperate in the legal process.

"This is a form of good faith from him to obey the law as a citizen. So inside he will provide information and explain about the process of renting Google Cloud," Ali told reporters, Thursday, August 7.

Meanwhile, Nadiem was efficient when he arrived at the anti-corruption commission office. He only said he was ready to undergo an examination.

"(I, ed) am healthy," he said briefly before entering the building lobby.

Previously, the KPK confirmed that it would summon Nadiem Makarim as the former Minister of Education and Culture on Thursday, August 7. He will be questioned regarding the investigation into alleged corruption in the procurement of Google Cloud at the Ministry of Education and Culture.

"That's right (will be summoned Thursday, ed)," said Deputy Chairperson of the KPK Fitroh Rochcahyanto when confirmed by reporters quoted on Wednesday, August 6.

The information regarding Nadiem Makarim's request for information was conveyed by a VOI source since last week. He said the former GoJek boss would be asked to attend the KPK's Merah Putih building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta.

Meanwhile, KPK spokesman Budi Prasetyo admitted that he did not know about the schedule. "We will check the information first later," he told reporters at the KPK's Merah Putih building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta, Tuesday night, August 5.

Budi only ensured that investigators would definitely ask for information from parties suspected of knowing about the procurement incident. Anyone who is summoned is asked to cooperate.

"KPK urges anyone who is summoned to be asked for cooperative information to provide information to investigators and in the investigation process," he said.
