JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung said the DKI Provincial Government will open fire service job vacancies (damkar) in the near future.

When the recruitment process opens later, Pramono mentions that residents outside Jakarta are allowed to register as firefighters. Because, he sees many residents from outside who still depend on their fate in Jakarta.

"Indeed, this is part of an open city, people hope to be able to depend on the fate of workers in Jakarta. For that, I will still run it openly even though later this will become a burden for the city of Jakarta," said Pramono at the DKI Jakarta DPRD building, Monday, August 4.

Pramono said that the openness of residents outside the region to register as DKI firefighters was carried out based on the recruitment process for public infrastructure and facilities handling officers (PPSU).

Where, many residents with ID cards outside Jakarta register as PPSU officers, even though the residents of Jakarta remain a priority to be selected.

Pramono acknowledged that this phenomenon was caused by the high need for jobs.

"I really have to admit what it is, right now, there are many openings. There are a lot of them who register and on average they are not Jakarta residents, because their ID cards are seen," said Pramono.

"Including what is now opening for the fire department. The vacancy is after PPSU," continued the former Cabinet Secretary.

Previously, Pramono admitted that the number of firefighters in Jakarta needed to be increased. Because, not only tackling the red rooster, the ranks of the Gulkarmat Service are also often relied on by people who need rescue help.

Throughout 2024, there were 1,969 fire cases handled by officers from the Fire and Rescue Service (Gulkarmat). Then, the officers also handled around 6,800 rescue cases.

"This means that public trust in the fire department is quite high, there are almost 6,800 cases. Thus, I specifically order the head of the service and all ranks to build public trust. This needs to be improved," said Pramono, some time ago.
