JAKARTA - Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung will combine three parks in the Blok M area of Kebayoran Baru: Langsat Park, Ayodya Park, and Leuser Park.
Pramono initially wanted to name the three connected parks as ASEAN Park, because they are located near the ASEAN Secretariat Office. However, the name was changed to Bendera Pusaka Park.
Head of the Jakarta City Parks and Forestry Agency, Fajar Sauri, explained the reason for the name change. Fajar admitted that the Jakarta Provincial Government needed a long time to apply for permits to use the ASEAN name for the green open space.
"If we had used the name ASEAN Parks, we would have had to rush the deadline this year, it would have required a long bureaucratic process, and international approval would have been necessary. It would have taken time. So we named it Bendera Pusaka Parks," Fajar told reporters on Friday, August 1.
Thus, the Jakarta Provincial Government has slightly changed the concept of the three parks, previously proposed as the ASEAN veranda, into the Blok M integrated area.
"It's more of a single, connecting area. So, the integrated Blok M area with the Literacy Park and the Bendera Pusaka Park, that's it," said Fajar.
The groundbreaking ceremony for the three parks to be combined is planned to begin on August 8th and be completed by the end of this year.
The Jakarta Provincial Government will build a connecting bridge between Langsat Park and Ayodya Park. Meanwhile, a pedestrian underpass will be built between Langsat Park and Leuser Park, considering that a highway separates the two parks.
"So, we'll connect Langsat Park and Ayodya Park with a link bridge. In Langsat, we'll build a jogging track. To connect Langsat and Leuser, there's a bridge that goes under the road for easy access," said Fajar.
