Dasco: Raising One Piece Flag Is Part Of The Nation's Fragrant Movement

JAKARTA - Deputy Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, responded to the flying of the 'One Piece' flag ahead of the celebration of the 80th Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia on August 17, which is widely discussed by social media. Dasco assessed that raising this flag was an effort to divide the nation.

"Yes, we also detect and also get input from security institutions, indeed there are efforts to divide the unity and integrity of the nation," said Dasco at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Thursday, July 31, evening.

The One Piece flag in question is Luffy's Jolly Roger or a straw hat pirate crew in anime or manga titled One Piece.

The raising of this flag is considered a reflection of the reintermation of the values of freedom by the new generation. However, for some clouds it is considered a symbol of piracy, resistance or danger.

However, Dasco said, there is a kind of systematic movement to divide the nation. "Yes, there is a systematic movement to divide the nation's unity," he said.

According to the daily chairman of the Gerindra Party DPP, many do not want to see Indonesia become a developed country. Dasco also appealed to all the nation's children to stay united and work together against things like that.

"Yes, there are also many who don't want the Indonesian people to move forward, at this time we are fast in achieving progress. Of course, there are those who like it who don't like it," he said.

"But for those who don't like it, let's unite, we fight," concluded Dasco.
