Three people were killed and several others seriously injured when passenger trains skidded in southwest Germany on Sunday.

There were about 100 people on the train as two carriages exited the rail between the cities of Riedlingen and Munderkingen, near the corner of Germany bordering France and Switzerland.

Photos from the German news agency DPA showed most of the carriages were still intact, but rolled over and rolled over to the sides.

Germany's national rail operator, Deutsche Bahn said there were many injured victims. It is not yet known what caused the train to slip.
