TANGERANG - Tangerang City Police (Polresta), Banten Police, mediated a dispute between the driver of the base motorcycle taxi (opang) and online taxis in the Tigaraksa Station area, Cikasungka Village, Solear District, Tangerang Regency.
Tangerang Police Chief Kombes Andi Muhammad Indra Waspada Amirullah said the incident that occurred on Friday, July 25 was triggered by a misunderstanding regarding the passenger pick-up zone around the station.
"There is a difference between friends from the base motorcycle taxi and online drivers. We have mediated the parties involved," Andi said when confirmed in Tangerang, Sunday, July 27.
Previously, the video of the dispute was widely circulated on social media. In the recording, several base motorcycle taxi drivers can be seen blocking an online taxi car and forcing a mother and a toddler to descend in the middle of the road in the rain.
In fact, one of the drivers had threatened to damage a vehicle with stones found at the location.
As a result of the incident, online taxi drivers were forced to drop their passengers at the scene. The base motorcycle taxi drivers argued that the action was a form of affirmation of online taxis deemed to have violated operational zone rules.
"That's why we immediately went down to the location. Currently, we mediate so that similar incidents don't happen again. Because, in the end, the people who were harmed were the people, the passengers," said Andi.
He added, from the results of clarification with the opang representatives, it was known that the incident was purely due to miscommunication between the two parties.
The police are also conducting further investigations to resolve disputes and find long-term solutions.
