Turkey Launches Tayfun Block-4 Hypersonic Missile To Satellite Launching Ride At IDEAF 2025

JAKARTA - Turkey launched its first hypersonic missile, Tayfun Block-4 along with the launch of six other advanced systems made by Roketsan at the 2025 IDEAF international defense exhibition in Istanbul last week.

The Tayfun Block-4 ballistic missile is a hypersonic version of the Tayfun missile, a Turkey-made long-range ballistic missile.

"Tayfun Block-4 is capable of reaching its furthest reach, setting a new record for the Turkish defense industry. Next there is the Atmaca missile with the Akata capsule, which is a submarine launch version of the Atmaca anti-ship missile currently under the inventory of the Turkish Armed Forces (TSK), with a range of 250 kilometers (155 miles).

"Equipped with cutting-edge technology, Akata will strengthen the Blue Homeland's defense with a range of more than 250 kilometers and a high explosive-powered fragmentation warhead," the statement read.

Gökbora's long-range air-to-air missiles have a range of more than 100 nautical miles (115 miles) and will be used to counter enemy targets on manned and unmanned fighter platforms.

There is also an air-launched ballistic missile system, 300 Er, integrable into an armed jet and UAV platform, offering a range of more than 500 kilometers, depending on altitude and launch speed. The system can quickly strike a strategic target without a launch platform entering the threat area of enemy air defense elements.

Not only that, but there is also multipurpose high-speed charging ammunition, Eren, which can be used against low-speed air units, steel-coated and armored ground targets, as well as anti-personnel by launching from armed UAVs, helicopters, land vehicles, ground-based systems, and naval platforms. This ammunition will meet significant needs in the field with superior guidance capabilities, long endurance, and a range of more than 100 kilometers, according to Roketsan.

In addition to missiles, there is also a spacecraft for satellite-space launchers, badminton-2, which can place satellites weighing 1,500 kilograms (3,307 pounds) into solar synchronous orbits at an altitude of more than 700 kilometers.

The IDEAF defense exhibition, which took place for six days last week, was held simultaneously at the Istanbul Fair Center, AtatQuirk Airport, Hotel WOW, and Marina Atakoy Airport.

The 17th edition invited ministers, chiefs of staff, commanders, and high-level representatives from 103 countries, with 44 countries opening booths.

The event invited more than 900 domestic defense companies and 400 international defense companies.
