PURBALINGGA - A climber who was reported to have died on Mount Slamet was successfully evacuated by a joint SAR team coordinated by the KKP and Basarnas. The victim was rescued through the Bambangan route, Purbalingga Regency, Central Java.

Based on the report received by the Bambangan Climbing Post officer which was forwarded to KPP/Basarnas Cilacap, his party immediately dispatched a rescue team from the Banyumas SAR Alert Unit to Bambangan at 18.45 WIB, followed by a rescue team from KPP/Basarnas Cilacap which departed at 19.56 WIB.
According to him, the SAR operation involved a joint team which was divided into three search and rescue units (SRU) with complete equipment.
They started climbing through the Bambangan route at 17.45 WIB. At around 21.11 WIB, the team arrived at Post 4 and met with a porter who provided more information.
He said the evacuation was carried out all night until finally Yuswandi's body arrived in View Slamet on Sunday (27/7), at 00.30 WIB.
"With the evacuation of the victim, the SAR operation was declared complete and all elements involved were returned to their respective units," Abdullah said.
Mount Slamet is the largest mountain on the island of Java and the highest in Central Java with a height of 3,428 meters above sea level and is known to have a fairly heavy terrain for climbers.
