Pinang Seller In Intan Jaya Killed By KKB Member, Buru Perpetrator Task Force

The Cartenz Peace Task Force is hunting for the Armed Criminal Group (KKB) who killed a civilian named Joni Hendra in Wandoga Village, Sugapa District, Intan Jaya Regency, Central Papua, on Friday, July 25 at around 13.40 WIT.

Head of Damai Cartenz Operations Brigadier General Faizal Ramadhani said the perpetrator who was identified as Yonial Kobogah who was strongly suspected of being part of the KKB group led by Apen Kobogau.

The Task Force has moved quickly and is pursuing the perpetrators. We will continue to hunt down and take firm action against anyone who disturbs the security stability of the Papuan people," he said in his statement, Friday, July 25, which was confiscated by Antara.

He explained that the perpetrator carried out the shooting using a short-barreled firearm from a distance of about seven meters when the victim was serving a betel nut buyer at his kiosk.

After shooting, the perpetrator fled towards the hills above Wandoga Village.

The victim was evacuated to the Bilorai Health Center at 13:45 WIT, but the victim was finally declared dead from serious gunshot wounds.

Fifteen minutes after the incident, the Cartenz Peace Task Force immediately secured the location and made efforts to pursue the perpetrators.

"The Task Force will not provide space for armed groups who continue to commit violence against civilians," he stressed.

Deputy Head of Peace Operations Cartenz, Kombes Pol Adarma Sinaga, said that the perpetrators of Yonial Kobogah were also strongly suspected of being involved in the shooting at BIliorai Sugapa Airport a few days ago.

The Cartenz Peace Task Force is pursuing in a coordinated manner to maintain the security situation in the Intan Jaya area.

Meanwhile, Head of the Public Relations Task Force for Damai Cartenz Operations, Kombes Pol Yusuf Sutejo, appealed to residents to remain calm and not be provoked by acts of terror.

"We ask the public to remain calm and help the authorities by providing information regarding the whereabouts of the perpetrators. The safety of the residents is our top priority," said Yusuf.

This incident adds to the list of violent acts carried out by armed groups in the Papua region. The Cartenz Peace Operations Task Force emphasized that it will continue to carry out law enforcement efforts and provide a sense of security in the community.
