JAKARTA - Indonesia insists Israel has no sovereignty over Palestinian occupied territories, condemning the actions of Knesset, the Israeli parliament, who tried to impose Israel's sovereignty over the West Bank.
"Indonesia strongly condemns Israel's unilateral actions, as reflected in the Knesset legislation, to impose Israel's sovereignty over the West Bank's ocuption region," the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a post on social media X, as quoted Thursday, July 24.
"This step is an act of annexation that violates the fundamental principles of not acquiring territory by means of violence," he continued.
Knesset approved a non-binding motion in favor of West Bank annexation in a vote held on Wednesday, reported The Times of Israel.
The resolution, which was passed 71-13 votes, states the West Bank is an "indivisible part of Israel's land, the country's historical, cultural, and spiritual homeland of Jews" and that "Israel has natural, historical and legal rights over all territory of the Land of Israel."

"Indonesia reiterates that Israel has no sovereignty over the Palestinian Population Territories and that illegal acts cannot change the legal status of the region in any way," said the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
"We reiterate support for an independent and sovereign Palestinian state in accordance with the coastline before 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital, according to the Two-State Solution," the ministry said.
Knesset's resolution calls on the government to "implement Israel's sovereignty, law, judgment and administration to all Jewish residential areas of all kinds in JAPAN, Samaria, and the Jordan Valley," the government said of the West Bank.
The motion was filed by Knesset members of the Reigius Zionism, Simcha Rothman, Knesset members of Likud, Dan Illouz, and Knesset members of the opposition, YiIsrael Beytenu, Oded Forer.
"Indonesia urges the UN Security Council and the international community to take concrete steps to obstruct Israel's illegal actions aimed at making its illegal occupation of the Palestinian territories permanent," concluded the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
