JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung revealed that he would build four waste power plants (PLTSa) in a number of Jakarta areas. The DKI Provincial Government, said Pramono, has received the blessing of President Prabowo Subianto.

This was conveyed by Pramono at the regional meeting of the Urban Climate Action Program - Climate Action Implementation (UCAP CAI) Southeast Asia in 2025.

"I am fortunate that I have received direction and at the same time approved by the central government, by President Prabowo Subianto, that the use of energy in the future in Jakarta, one of which will use waste energy, waste energy generation," said Pramono at the food and beverage Hotel. Midplaza, Tanah Abang, Central Jakarta, Wednesday, July 23.

According to Pramono, Jakarta needs large-scale waste processing facilities. Given, Jakarta's daily waste production reaches 7,700 tons.

Meanwhile, the pile of Jakarta waste that has been mounting at the Bantargebang Integrated Waste Processing Site (TPST), Bekasi, has reached around 55 million tons.

"So, this is an extraordinary asset, which used to be a burden for the government of Jakarta, now it's like a treasure. This will be something extraordinary because we will immediately build 4 PLTSa," said Pramono.

Pramono assessed this regional meeting as an important milestone in celebrating the achievement of the UCAP program, as well as opening a new chapter of collaboration to realize a green, inclusive, and sustainable urban future.

"Since 2018, C40 has provided technical support and resources for 35 cities in designing and implementing climate action plans. These cities, including Jakarta, have shown tangible leadership in driving transformation towards climate resilience," he explained.

According to him, as the CAI UCAP Program ends, the next priority for cities in Southeast Asia is to develop an adaptive and sustainable climate financing strategy, to ensure the sustainability of the mitigation and adaptation programs that have been running.

"In the future, Jakarta is committed to strengthening the energy transition by participating in the Clean Investment Accelerator initiative. This step is in line with our vision to build Jakarta as a global city that is resilient to climate, inclusive, and is fiscally responsible," added Pramono.
