JAKARTA - The NasDem Party views the capital city of the archipelago (IKN) as the capital city of East Kalimantan Province (Kaltim) if in the future it cannot be designated as the state capital to replace Jakarta.
Deputy Chairperson of the NasDem Party, Saan Mustopa, said that this needs to be done with the consideration of the availability of the budget and current political conditions. This step, he said, at the same time stopped the polemic about the status of IKN while ensuring that the existing infrastructure did not stall.
"Jakarta can be maintained as the nation's capital until all administrative preparations, infrastructure and transfer policies of ASN are completely mature," said Saan at the NasDem Party DPP Office, Jakarta, Friday, which was confiscated by Antara.
In addition, according to him, the government also needs to immediately carry out a temporary moratorium while adjusting IKN development to fiscal capabilities and national priorities.

According to him, NasDem assesses that there are several things that hinder the administration of government and infrastructure development in IKN, including the absence of a Presidential Decree.
He said the President's Decree on the transfer of positions, functions, and roles of the State Capital City from the Special Capital Region (DKI) Province of Jakarta to the Capital City of the Archipelago has not yet been determined by the government as mandated by Article 4 paragraph (2) of Law Number 3 of 2022 concerning the State Capital.
The government, he said, is still in the process of re-screening by considering adjusting the IKN development strategy.
"This has caused the government to not be able to confirm the schedule for moving Ministries/Institutions and transferring ASN to IKN along with the details of the number," he said.
Meanwhile, Chairman of Commission II of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Rifqinizamy Karsayuda, said that if IKN was transferred to the capital city of East Kalimantan, the assets would also be handed over to the East Kalimantan Provincial Government.
The head of the commission in charge of domestic political affairs and the government considered that later the costs related to IKN would also come from East Kalimantan.
"Therefore, in my opinion, the NasDem Party's thoughts are the most moderate, for us to resolve the polemic that has so far appeared in the public, including in the elite of this nation," said Rifqi, who also came from the NasDem faction.
