Mutation Of COVID-19, Muhammadiyah: Eid Prayers At Home, Takbiran Should Be Dissolved

JAKARTA - The Muhammadiyah Central Leadership (PP) has determined 1 Shawwal 1442 to fall on May 13, 2021. This means that all Muhammadiyah congregations will be Eid on Thursday, May 13, 2021.

The General Secretary (Sekum) of PP Muhammadiyah, Abdul Mu'ti, appealed to the public not to carry out the Eid prayers if the area where they live is still a pandemic emergency.

This is to reduce crowds and control the spike in new COVID-19 cases. Moreover, there is a new variant of the virus mutation that has entered Indonesia.

"First, we try to complete our fast by carrying out the obligatory worship, namely paying zakat fitrah. Then second, we carry out the sunah muakad which means the recommended sunnah, namely Eid prayer," said Abdul Mu'ti to VOI, Thursday, May 6. .

"In a normal, safe situation, we are advised to pray Eid al-Fitr in the field but because it is still in a COVID-19 pandemic situation, if the area we live in is still declared an unsafe area, it is better to carry out Eid al-Fitr prayers at home in congregation with family," he continued.

Then for a friendly visit, Mu'ti also advised the public to limit the tradition of greeting-greetings. Better, he said, that forgiveness can be done virtually using technology.

"We should limit the hospitality that is usually carried out after the Eid prayer. Or even if it is really unsafe, we should carry out the friendship in other ways. For example through virtual or telephone and other safe ways," Mu'ti explained. .

He also appealed to the public not to carry out traveling takbir activities at night before Eid al-Fitr 2021.

"People's habits such as traveling takbir and so on, should be eliminated," said Mu'ti.

Even if the takbir is at a mushalla, he continued, it should be limited to the number of people and the time of takbiran

"So there is no need for takbir all night long, in addition to disturbing the resting community it can also endanger health," explained Mu'ti.

"And if for example holding one in a mosque, for example going all night, it is better not to use speakers that come out but enough with the sound inside. The important thing is the message. If the intention is to worship Allah, of course the important thing is our devotion in worship," said Abdul. Mu'ti.
