Police Persecutor Of Baby To Death Starts Trial At Semarang District Court

A member of the Central Java Regional Police, Brigadier Ade Kurniawan, a defendant in the alleged abuse case that killed a 2-month-old baby, began trial at the Semarang City District Court (PN).

The Public Prosecutor of the Central Java High Prosecutor's Office (Kejati) Saptanti Lastari charged Brigadier Ade Kurniawan with a criminal act that resulted in the death of the NA baby who was his biological child.

The prosecutor explained that the crime began when the defendant met the victim's mother, whose initials were DGT in 2023.

Since dating, the defendant and the victim have lived together in a rented house located in Palebon, Semarang City

"The victim who was dating the defendant finally became pregnant and gave birth to NA in January 2025," he said in the trial which was followed by the defendant online as reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, July 16.

To ensure that if NA is the defendant's biological child, both of them carry out DNA tests whose results are confirmed as the defendant's child.

For the birth of NA, the victim's mother asked the defendant to take responsibility by marrying her.

However, the defendant Ade refused and was only willing to give money to take care of NA's baby.

The defendant, who felt hurt because of the demands of the victim's mother, first abused a NA baby at a rented house in March 2025.

The suspect strangled the back of the victim and finally cried

The victim again abused the victim by pressing the forehead of the victim while in the car in the parking lot of the Peterongan Market in Semarang City.

The unconscious victim was rushed to the Roemani Hospital in Semarang and was previously declared dead.

The police's exhumation stated that the death of the victim was caused by blunt force to the head which resulted in a brain hemorrhage.

"The death of the victim was not caused by stumbling on milk," he said in the trial chaired by Chief Judge Nenden Riska Puspitasari.

For his actions, the defendant was charged with Law Number 35 of 2014 concerning Child Protection or Article 338 of the Criminal Code concerning Murder or Article 352 of the Criminal Code concerning persecution that resulted in death.

Against the prosecutor's indictment, the judge gave the defendant the opportunity to submit an exception at the upcoming trial.
