The Directorate of General Criminal Investigation (Ditreskrimum) of the East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) Police has begun to examine 19 DPRD members and four Kupang Regency DPRD secretariat employees, related to the alleged beating of the Head of the Finance Section of the Kupang Regency DPRD Secretariat.
The examination of the witnesses began today, Monday, July 14, 2025, and is scheduled to take place until Friday, July 18, 2025.
The Director of Criminal Investigation at the NTT Police, Kombes Patar Silalahi, said that all parties examined were still witnesses.
"A total of 19 people we summoned to be examined as witnesses," said Patar when confirmed in Kupang, Antara, Monday, July 14.
According to Patar, investigators have sent summons to 15 members of the Kupang Regency DPRD, including the leadership of the council, the leadership of the commission, and several faction leaders who attended the meeting in the chairman room of the DPRD when the incident occurred. In addition, four DPRD secretariat employees were also summoned.
The examination took place in rotation. On the first day, five people underwent examination. Then on Tuesday, July 15, four people were scheduled to be examined, followed by four more people on Wednesday, July 16.
"Then on Thursday and Friday we will check the rest, including the chairman of the Kupang Regency DPRD who will also be questioned," said Patar.
He added that pre-reconstruction of events is also being prepared and is likely to be carried out this week.
Kombes Patar emphasized that this case is still under investigation and no suspect has been named. Even so, his party said that he already had sufficient preliminary evidence to raise the status of the case from investigation to investigation.
"The process is still ongoing and there is sufficient evidence so that the case goes up to investigation for us to hold (the case)," he said.
