JAKARTA - The Provincial Government (Pemprov) of DKI Jakarta has decided to reduce the revenue target of parking service taxes in the draft amendment to the 2025 Regional Revenue and Expenditure Budget (APBD).

In the revised document, the DKI Provincial Government cut the parking tax target of IDR 50 billion, from IDR 350 billion to IDR 300 billion.

Responding to the provincial government's policy regarding the decline in the parking tax target, an online motorcycle taxi driver (ojol) said he did not really care about the government's policy.

The reason is, the impact of the policy is not felt directly for ojol people in Jakarta. "The decrease in the tax target does not affect the available parking lot," said Sunandar, when contacted by VOI, Friday, July 11.

According to him, every parking lot provided by building or mall owners usually charges a different rate at every calculation per hour.

"If parking spaces have been provided, the owner of the building or mall will be the one who distinguishes the nominal parking rate per hour. Sometimes there are 2000/hour, sometimes some are 3000/hour, depending on the parking space managed by the building or mall," he said.

Sunandar said the official parking system in Jakarta was still not safe enough for Ojol drivers. The reason is, various crimes still occur in the parking lot even in the official area.

"In my opinion, the official parking system in Jakarta is still not safe because it is still prone to crime. Even though it is equipped with CCTV, it does not guarantee security for these vehicles," he said.

Sunandar hopes that the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government through the Transportation Agency and Parking UPT can fix the security system in a number of official parking lots in Jakarta.

"It should be with a modern tariff payment process using e-money or the like, the vehicle security system is also more secure. Parking managers must be responsible for the safety of consumers' motorbikes," he said.

Previously, the DKI Provincial Government through the DKI Jakarta Regional Revenue Agency (Bapenda) proposed a reduction in the target of parking service tax of IDR 50 billion from IDR 350 billion to IDR 300 billion.

The decrease in the revenue target was revealed in the draft amendment to the Draft Amendment to the General Policy of the APBD as well as the Draft Changes in the Priority and Temporary Budget Ceiling (KUA-PPAS) of the APBD for the 2025 Fiscal Year.

The decline is a question from the DKI Jakarta DPRD. Head of the Retribution and Other Revenue Division of the DKI Jakarta Regional Original Revenue Agency, Andriansyah, explained the cause of the proposed reduction in the off-street tax target.

One of the factors is the change in the behavior of a number of people who previously used private vehicles towards the use of public transportation. So, they no longer need a place to park their vehicles.
