West Java Prepares Thousands Of Isolation Rooms For People Who Insist To Going Hometown

JAKARTA - West Java Governor Ridwan Kamil said that his party has prepared thousands of isolation rooms in villages to anticipate newcomers from outside the region who are desperate to go hometown for Lebaran.

Ridwan Kamil said that the isolation room was prepared to anticipate the travelers who escaped the guard by officers at various isolation points.

"In our villages, there are around 2,500 isolation rooms in the villages so if they insist we have instructed the bhabinkamtibmas (community police officer), babinsa (village guidance officer), the National Army (TNI), the National Police (Polri), and village heads to be immediately isolated the travelers for five days," he said as quoted by Antara, Wednesday, 5 May.

This was done, said Ridwan, learning from the experience last year when travelers passed on COVID-19 to their families when they returned to their hometowns.

However, he emphasized that the West Java Provincial Government has prepared 158 isolation points, and guarding is also carried out on alternative roads commonly known as "rat paths" to prevent the arrival of travelers.

Meanwhile, Deputy Governor of East Java Emil Dardak said that in addition to anticipating travelers from outside the province, his region must also handle the arrival of Indonesian migrant workers (PMI) who return to their homeland because their work contracts have expired.

According to Emil, Juanda Airport in Surabaya has been determined to be one of the immigration points determined by the government to be the entry gate for PMI returning to their hometowns.

"The average person per day in January is 100 people, in February 200 people. From April to May 4 alone, there are almost 900 people because it intersects with PMI's overseas contract expiration date," Emil said.

The Deputy Governor of East Java confirmed that his party had prepared quarantine facilities for returning Indonesian workers to ensure that they were free of COVID-19.

Despite carrying a free-COVID-19 letter from their respective host countries, Emil said that so far 33 PMIs have returned home and have been confirmed positive for COVID-19.
