BMKG: Beware Of Heavy Rain In Kalimantan, Light Rain On The Islands Of Java And Sulawesi

JAKARTA - The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) predicts weather conditions in a number of major cities in Indonesia, Thursday, July 10, generally cloudy and light rain.

"In Java, it is generally cloudy, such as in Banten, DKI Jakarta, Semarang, Yogyakarta, and Surabaya. Meanwhile, Bandung is predicted to experience light rain," said BMKG forecaster Raeni Chindi as quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, July 10.

In Sumatra, areas that have the potential to receive light to moderate rain are Medan, Jambi, and Bengkulu. Meanwhile, Aceh, Padang, Pekanbaru, Bangka, Palembang, and Lampung have the potential to be shrouded in clouds.

"For Bali, Kupang and Mataram are predicted to be cloudy," he said.

Furthermore, he said, on the island of Kalimantan, areas that have the potential to experience heavy rain accompanied by lightning are Banjarmasin and Tanjung Selor. Meanwhile, Pontianak, Samarinda, and Palangkaraya are forecasted for light rain.

Moving to the Sulawesi area, he continued, the cities of Mamuju, Palu, Makassar, and Kendari have the potential for light rain. As for Manado and Gorontalo are thick cloudy.

In Eastern Indonesia, there is generally the potential for light to moderate rain such as Ternate, Ambon, Sorong, Manokwari, Nabire, Jayapura, and Jayawijaya.
