Check Khofifah At The East Java Regional Police Regarding The Bribery Case, MAKI Criticizes The KPK For Choosing Love

JAKARTA - The Indonesian Anti-Corruption Society (MAKI) assesses that the Governor of East Java, Khofifah Indar Parawansa, should be questioned at the KPK's Merah Putih building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta. Requests for information elsewhere are considered to cause perception in the community.

This was conveyed by MAKI Coordinator Boyamin Saiman in response to the KPK's statement that it would examine Khofifah at the East Java Regional Police on Thursday, July 10. The politician will be questioned regarding the bribery case of grant funds for community groups (pokmas) from the East Java Regional Budget for the 2019-2022 period.

The examination tomorrow is the second time the KPK has summoned Khofifah. He should have been examined on June 20 but was not present because there was an scheduled agenda first.

"If this is checked at the Regional Police, this seems unfair, right. So favoritism, so something that doesn't match people's emotions is because of the impression of being favoritism," Boyamin told reporters, Wednesday, July 9.

Boyamin said that requests for information made by the KPK were often carried out elsewhere. "But, for witnesses or parties who are at normal levels," he said.

Meanwhile, Khofifah, continued Boyamin, should have been carried out at the KPK's Merah Putih building. "After all, Mrs. Khofifah also has enough budget to go to Jakarta," he said.

Furthermore, Boyamin also mentioned the examination of a number of witnesses in the East Java Provincial Government grant bribery case who were examined at the anti-corruption commission office. One of them, former Chairman of the East Java Provincial DPRD Kusnadi on June 19.

"The former chairman of the DPRD, the DPRD, was also summoned to the KPK. Wasn't it Khofifah? Right, the impression is so special," he explained.

Previously reported, the KPK again investigated the alleged bribery of grant funds for community groups or pokmas from the East Java Provincial Budget for the 2019-2022 Fiscal Year. 21 suspects have been determined from the development of the case.

In the process of running, a number of locations have been searched by investigators. Among them are the house of former DPD Chairman La Nyalla Mattalitti and the East Java Indonesian National Sports Committee (KONI) office.

In addition, the KPK has asked the Directorate General of Immigration of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights (Kemenkumham) to prevent 21 people from leaving the country in this case. They are a case that is a state administrator or member of the East Java Provincial DPRD; AI, a member of the East Java Provincial DPRD; MAH, a member of the East Java Provincial DPRD; and AS a member of the East Java Provincial DPRD.

Then also prevented by BW, JPP, HAS, SUK, AR, WK, AJ, MAS, AA, AYM, AH, RWS, MF, AM, and MM as private parties; FA as a member of the Sampang Regency DPRD; and JJ who is a state administrator or member of the Probolinggo Regency DPRD.
