Rapists And Killers Of Junior High School Students In Serdang Bedagai Sentenced To Life In Prison

JAKARTA - The Seirampah District Court (PN), Serdang Bedagai, North Sumatra, sentenced Herli Fadli Nasution (29), a defendant in the case of rape and murder of AS (12) a junior high school student in Pantai Cermin District, Serdang Bedagai.

The verdict hearing which was held in the Cakra room of the Seirampah District Court, Tuesday, July 8, was chaired by the Chief Justice M Sacral Ritonga, as well as two member judges, Maria C Barus and Novira Sembiring.

In its ruling, the panel of judges stated that the defendant was legally and convincingly proven to have committed a criminal act of premeditated murder.

"The defendant legally and convincingly committed a premeditated murder crime. And was sentenced to life imprisonment," said the Chief Justice when reading the verdict reported by ANTARA.

This verdict is lighter than the demands of the Public Prosecutor (JPU) from the Sergai District Attorney, Jonatan Manurung, who previously demanded the defendant with the death penalty, based on a letter of demand from the Attorney General's Office (AGO).

It is known, this case stems from the loss of US victims on Friday, December 13, 2024.

After an intensive search, two days later the victim was found lifeless in a green striped white burlap sack in the oil palm plantation area belonging to residents not far from the victim's residence.

The discovery of the victim's body, who was still in school uniform, shocked local residents and sparked widespread criticism from the community.

The police moved quickly to reveal the perpetrators and arrest Herli Fadli Nasution, who was later named the main suspect.
