JAKARTA - Bali's I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport announced a number of flights affected by the eruption of Mount Lewotobi Laki, in East Flores Regency, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), are now recovering.
"As of 10.30 WITA, we received 18 recovered flights which were previously postponed or canceled," said General Manager of I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport Ahmad Syaugi Shahab in a statement, in Denpasar, Tuesday, July 8, which was confiscated by Antara.
Mount Lewotobi Men erupted again at 11.05 WITA, Monday, July 7 yesterday, with a column of ash reaching 18,000 meters at the top of the mountain.
This eruption resulted in the cancellation of 24 flights and a number of delays on the Labuan Bajo, Australia, Singapore, and South Korea routes.
Ahmad Syaugi confirmed that today the 18 flights have recovered, including Qantas airlines with flights to Sydney-Denpasar-Sydney and Melbourne-Denpasar-Melbourne.
Furthermore, Air Busan two flights to Busan-Denpasar-Busan, Jetstar Airways two flights to Singapore-Denpasar-Melbourne, and Korean Air four flights to Incheon-Denpasar-Incheon.
The flights returning to operation are China Eastern two Pudong-Denpasar-Pudong flights, China Southern two flights to Guangzhou-Denpasar-Guangzhou, and Singapore Airlines two flights to Singapore-Denpasar-Singapore.
"All these flights are planned to depart today," said Ahmad Syaugi.
