TANGERANG The heavy rain that flushed the Jabodetabek area since Sunday afternoon, July 6 caused puddles at a number of points, including in IKEA Alam Sutera shopping center, Tangerang. A short video showing visitors taking off their shoes and rolling their pants so as not to get wet while crossing an area inundated by water, has gone viral on social media.

In a video that is widely shared on TikTok and X (Twitter), it can be seen that several parts of the floor inside the building are flooded with high enough water, making it difficult for visitors to walk comfortably. Some of them are seen lifting their groceries and looking for routes that are not submerged.

Until this news was published, there had been no official statement from IKEA management or the authorities regarding the exact cause and scale of the inundation that occurred. However, the condition of heavy rain that has been evenly distributed in the Jabodetabek area since noon is suspected to be the main trigger for the entry of water into the area in the building.

One of the netizens who recorded the incident wrote, "This is the first time IKEA has to pay attention, water enters to deep halls. But visitors are still busy," wrote the @k*** account in the comments column of a viral upload.

This condition has drawn various responses from the community. Many regretted the building drainage system which was deemed unable to withstand high rainfall, while others continued to praise the calm and orderly response of visitors to the unexpected situation.
