Fadli Zon Continues Writing History, Speaker Of The House Of Representatives: We Respect It, But It Must Be Implemented As Clear As Possible

JAKARTA - DPR Speaker Puan Maharani responded to the matter of rewriting Indonesia's history which was asked to be postponed by Commission X of the DPR. Puan respects the Ministry of Culture who still wants to continue rewriting history, but she asks that it be carried out as clearly as possible.

"We must both respect and respect that the writing of history must be carried out as clearly as possible, clearly as possible, without any parties feeling aggrieved or eliminating traces of their history," said Puan, Thursday, July 3.

Previously, a number of members of Commission X DPR requested that the rewriting of Indonesia's history be postponed and even stopped. However, after the working meeting, the Minister of Culture (Menbud) Fadli Zon emphasized that the rewriting of history project would continue.

Fadli also emphasized that the rewriting of history was carried out by a number of professional historians from various regions. Therefore, the Minister of Education and Culture asked all parties not to judge, let alone the rewriting is still being carried out.

It is known, the government involved 113 historians from all over the archipelago in the National History Rewriting Team. Although, there are also historians who finally decided to withdraw because they found irregularities.

"So, respect each other related to this, yes, mutual respect and respect," continued the grandson of the proclaimer of the Republic of Indonesia.

Puan also responded to the question of historical opening which previously highlighted PKI figures. Puan emphasized that the opening of history should adhere to the facts of 1998 history.

"At that time, President Habibie stated in his speech that there were historical facts that in his points were conveyed, I also did not memorize in detail. Yes, let's open the historical facts, we will review them again, we will see again," said Puan.

Puan reminded that historical facts should not be removed. Moreover, the history was once conveyed by the president of the Republic of Indonesia.

"If then in historical facts it is considered that there is something that is not necessary. Yes, is it true? Because many historical experts say we must state its name historical facts, let alone conveyed by a President, it means that it is a historical fact that we must admit and respect," said Puan.

"So, don't let historical facts then be unappreciated and respected," he added.

Puan emphasized that the DPR will see what the history of the Ministry of Education and Culture is like. This is because Menbud Fadli Zon still wants to continue the project. In particular, regarding the rape incident, which is said to have no evidence.

"Yes, we'll see if it's like that or not. Let's try later the Ministry of Culture and Commission 10 we'll see how the next process goes," he concluded.
