High Waves Threatening Jakarta Waters, Crossing To The Thousand Islands Stopped

JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Transportation Agency canceled ship transportation services to the Thousand Islands on Tuesday, July 1, 2025 because there was a high risk of waves.

Based on information from the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) Class Maritime Tanjung Priok, today's weather conditions have the potential for strong winds of 5-15 knots and wave heights of 0.5 - 1.25 meters in the waters of Kep.serib.

"In connection with this, the Transportation Service ship service activities on Tuesday, July 1, 2025 were temporarily suspended," said Head of the DKI Jakarta Transportation Agency, Syafrin Liputo in his statement, Tuesday, July 1.

In the BMKG weather forecast, the Muara Angke-Kelisuan Seribu ship crossing has the potential for light rain until 19.00 WIB.

Meanwhile, wave heights of 1.25 - 2.5 meters (medium) are likely to occur in the waters of the Thousand Islands, Bekasi Karawang Waters, Subang Waters, Indramayu Waters, and Cirebon Waters.

Then wave heights of 2.5 - 4.0 meters (high) are likely to occur in Sukabumi Waters, Cianjur Waters, Garut Waters, Tasikmalaya Waters, and Pangandaran Waters.

Increase vigilance and anticipate the potential impact of strong winds 20-25 knots (37-46 km/hour, the Beaufort Scale 5-6) can occur on June 30 - July 1, 2025.

"Please pay attention to the high risk of shipping safety such as fishing boats, barges, ferries, and large ships such as cargo ships/cruise ships," said Syafrin.
