TANGERANG - The atmosphere of emotion enveloped the Cargo Terminal of Soekarno-Hatta Airport's body, Sunday when the body of an Indonesian migrant worker, Ngadiman, arrived from South Korea. He died in a work accident at the factory where he worked.
The Minister of Protection for Indonesian Migrant Workers (P2MI), Abdul Kadir Karding, was present to pick up Ngadiman's return as a form of state presence until the end of his citizens' lives.
"Today I picked up the return of our brother, Ngadiman, who worked with the G to G scheme in Korea and had a work accident," Karding said at the pick-up location, quoted in an official statement from the Ministry of P2MI.
Ngadiman is a migrant worker from Cilacap, Central Java, who has worked in South Korea through an intergovernmental placement scheme (Government to Government or G to G) since October 2024. He died on June 25, 2025 after an accident while cleaning the blockage at a metal factory's conveyor engine.
The victim had received medical treatment at the hospital, but his life could not be saved.
The government ensures that all rights of the deceased will be distributed to the family. Ngadiman is listed as an official worker and has protection according to the provisions.
"We make sure that we will take care of the bodies until the funeral and we will complete their rights," said Karding.
The compensation for death from BPJS Ketenagakerjaan worth Rp. 213 million has been prepared, including scholarships for the two deceased's children. Meanwhile, insurance rights from companies in South Korea are still in the process of being disbursed and will be transferred directly to the account of Ngadiman's wife.
The government is also committed to overseeing the legal process in South Korea. Currently, the company's alleged negligence is still under investigation by local authorities.
"Essentially, our presence here proves that the state is present, from the recruitment process to the time it returns to the country," said Karding.
