JAKARTA - President Donald called for peace in the Middle East, following Iran's attacks on a number of US military facilities in the Middle East, thanking Tehran for informing the plan for the attack first.
Iran launched airstrikes targeting US military bases in Qatar and Iraq following the US-launched "Midnight Hammer" operation on June 21 to Iran's nuclear facilities.
The Iran-Israeli conflict entered its 12th day when Tehran launched an attack on the Al Udeid Air Base occupied by the US military in Qatar.
"We are not attacking anyone, and we will never accept an attack by anyone," Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said in a statement.
"We will not bow to anyone's aggression, this is the logic of the Iranian nation," he said.
Iran reportedly gave the US an initial notification via diplomatic channels hours before the attack, including to Qatar authorities. President Trump sees it as a positive thing.
"I want to thank Iran for giving us an early notification, allowing no lives to be lost, and no one to be injured," President Trump wrote on his Truth social media website.
"Maybe Iran can now continue to Peace and Harmony in the Region, and I will enthusiastically encourage Israel to do the same," he continued.
He further said Iran fired 14 missiles at the airbase and had been heavily grounded.
"I am pleased to report that no American was injured and almost no damage has occurred," wrote President Trump.
"Most importantly, they have removed everything from their 'system', and hopefully, there will be no more hatred," he continued.
Iran's response to the attack reminded the previous clashes with the United States and Israel, with Tehran seeking a balance between saving face with a military response, but without triggering an escalation cycle it cannot bear.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said Iran is ready to respond again if there is further action by the United States, according to a statement posted by the ministry's account on Telegram.
On the other hand, the attack made Iran's relations with neighboring countries tense. Qatar, Bahrain, United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, and Iraq.
"There is a deep relationship between the two countries (Iran and Qatar) and the two countries, but the attack undoubtedly demands a sincere meeting and a clear attitude," Qatari Foreign Ministry spokesman Majed Al Ansari told a news conference.
