The Batam District Attorney (Kejari), Riau Islands is looking for the whereabouts of a South Korean citizen (WN) with the initials KKJ, related to the alleged corruption case of social facilities belonging to the Batam City Government by a Singaporean citizen with the initials PTP.

"We are still looking for the South Korean citizen, we invite him to ask for clarification. We have sent a letter of invitation for clarification after the determination of the suspect, but have not yet arrived," said Batam District Attorney I Head Ketut Kasna Dedi confirmed in Batam, Sunday.

Kasna said the invitation letter for clarification was sent directly to the buyer's foundation in South Korea.

In this case, the suspect PTP, a Singaporean citizen as the manager of PT Sentek Indonesia, developer of Housing sajanton Square, Tanjung Uncang, Batam City, did not carry out its obligation to hand over public infrastructure, facilities and utilities (PSU) to the Batam City Government.

The company has the obligation to hand over public and social facilities to the Batam City Government, in this case the Batam Entrepreneurship Agency (BP). However, the 4,496 square meter land was not returned.

The land, which was supposed to be an educational facility, was actually sold by the suspect to the KKJ, a South Korean citizen, who is the chairman of the Suluh Mulia Pioner Foundation.

Investigators said there was a transaction of Rp4.89 billion allegedly the result of the sale of the social facilities owned by Batam City.

Kasna emphasized that the investigation is still ongoing, until now the suspect is suspected of acting alone, there has been no involvement of government officials in the case.

According to him, this case was revealed thanks to the findings of the Batam Kejari Civil and State Administration Division (Datun), which is currently serving as a state lawyer, collecting public facilities and social facilities that have not been handed over by developers.

"In fact, this is the interest of the Batam City Government. The City Government asked us to control the social facilities that have not been returned. There are findings (Merlion Square) why not submit them, it turns out that facts on the ground have been sold," he explained.

He said, as a result of the suspect's actions, the Batam City Government lost land which should have been used for public facilities and social facilities.

Regarding the determination of foreign nationals in corruption cases, Kasna emphasized that corruption cases do not have to be related to government officials. The regulation states that anyone who fulfills the elements can be named a suspect.

Kasna dismissed the spotlight on this case, by proving it at trial.

"In this case, assets under the management of the suspect are transferred, sold which should be the right of the city government, but by selling their missing social facilities, they cannot be used for the government," said Kasna.
