JAKARTA - Iran plans to take legal action against International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Director General Rafael Grossi for not acting on Israeli attacks on Iran's nuclear facilities.
This was reported by Fars news agency on Thursday (19/6), citing a letter from the head of Iran's Atomic Energy Organization, Mohammad Eslami, to Grossi.
"You need to carry out your legal obligations by immediately ending your silence and condemning the Israeli regime's aggression, which goes against all international legal norms," Eslami wrote in the letter.
Iran, continued Eslami, will take the necessary steps to protect its sovereignty and will take appropriate legal steps, "specifically regarding your silence."
On June 13, Israel launched a massive airstrike against Iran, which is accused of secretly carrying out military nuclear programs. A number of senior military officials and Iranian nuclear scientists were reported killed in the attack.
Several nuclear facilities, including in Natanz and Fordow, were also targeted by Israeli attacks.
Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei called the attack a crime and threatened Israel with "a bitter and terrible fate."
Iran retaliated against the Israeli attack by launching "Operation True Promise 3" on Friday night, which attacked Israeli military targets.
