JAKARTA - British Foreign Minister David Lemmy to Geneva for negotiations urged a diplomatic solution to Tehran's nuclear program, Iran, along with a number of European foreign ministers on Friday.
Israel and Iran clashed by air warfare that has escalated since last week after Israel launched a military offensive against Iran, which was met with a wave of missiles.
Lemmy's trip to Switzerland follows his visit to Washington to meet US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and White House Special Envoy for Middle East Steve Witkoff.
"We are determined that Iran should not have nuclear weapons. Now there is an opportunity in the next two weeks to achieve a diplomatic solution," Lemmy said in a statement.
"Now is the time to stop the sad situation in the Middle East and prevent regional escalation that will not benefit anyone," he continued.
A Reuters source said Britain's foreign ministers, France, and Germany - known as the E3 - would meet with the European Union's top diplomat, Kaja Kallas in Geneva before holding a joint meeting with Iran's foreign minister.
