Jokowi: COVID-19 Provides Extraordinary Lessons In Development Planning

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) said that the current COVID-19 pandemic has provided lessons. This is because various designs that have been regulated by the government can change when there is this virus.

"The COVID-19 pandemic provides extraordinary lessons in our development planning. No matter how good the planning we have made, we must also be ready to make changes quickly to match challenges and opportunities," Jokowi said at the opening of the National Development Planning Conference which was broadcast. on YouTube of the Presidential Secretariat, Tuesday, May 4.

Although the planning and methods can change along the way due to the COVID-19 pandemic, he reminded that the main goal of improving the welfare of the community and advancing the life of the nation must not be changed. So, it takes a synergy of national strength to solve the problems that exist in the current situation.

However, Jokowi reminded that this problem must be resolved by adhering to health protocols and various other steps in handling the COVID-19 pandemic.

"The discipline of prokes, testing, tracing, and treatment and vaccination requires support from all. Of all components of the nation, it takes activeness from all levels of government from central to regional. Likewise, productivity from small to large industries to produce medical devices and drugs, Also support from other countries is also very much needed, "said the former Governor of DKI Jakarta.

Next, Jokowi also said that the current use of science and technology was inevitable. So, Jokowi wants his government ranks from the center to the regions to implement technological advances in the field of public service.

"When government services, education services and retail businesses cannot be offline, we must change quickly to use online or online instruments," he said.

"When we need fast and accurate data, the integrated data we need is digital technology. When we need medicine, we need vaccines, we need medical equipment, what we need to be fast is technology," he concluded.
