JAKARTA - The Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claims for the first time to use the Ajjil missile to strike targets in Israeli territory in the 12th wave of a counter-missile attack which is also part of the "True Promise III" operation on Wednesday evening local time.
In a statement, the IRGC community relations office announced the launch of the operation, warning Israeli settlers to leave the occupied territory.
"The twelveth wave of True Promise III Operations begins with the shooting of the Ajjil two-stage missile which is very heavy and long-range," according to the IRGC, quoted from Tasnim June 19.
The IRGC said the missile strike would target the same target as before, the Mossad Headquarters and the Israeli military base in all regions of the country.
Ajjil is a two-stage solid-fueled surface-to-surface ballistic missile developed by Iran, quoted from The Economic Times.
Its range is estimated at 2,000 kilometers (1,242 miles), which can strike deep within enemy territory, including all regions of Israel and southeastern Europe. The missile measures 18 meters (59 ft) long and can carry a cargo of about 700 kilograms (1,543 pounds).
Unconfirmed reports say the missile has another variant with a maximum range of up to 4,000 kilometers.
Unlike older liquid-fuel missiles, the Sepjil solid-fueled propulsion means a faster launch time, easier mobility, and greater defensive capability against the precursor.
The missile is very maneuverable and designed to evade enemy detection systems, increasing its chances of penetrating advanced air defense shields such as Israel's Iron Dome and Arrow systems.
Since launching the retaliatory attack, Iranian missiles and drones have been known to be able to penetrate Israel's defenses and hit a number of targets. The IRGC claims to have attacked Mossad offices, air force bases, and intelligence centers throughout Israel.
Most recently, a series of Iranian missiles returned to target a number of Israeli territory on Thursday. Israel Defense Forces (IDF) previously identified missiles launched from Iran on Thursday morning local time. Sirine activated throughout Israel.

"The defense system operates to intercept the threat," the IDF said.
The use of the Ajjil missile can be a turning point in the Israeli-Iran conflict. The long range of missiles allowed Iran to attack Israel without launching missiles from proxies such as Hezbollah in Lebanon or militias in Syria or Iraq.
The use of dense fuel shortens Sepjil's launch preparations, so Israel's defense system has little time for warnings and reactions.
