Attorney General Says North Maluku Has Nickel Reserves, Asks Prosecutors To Map Potential Violations

Attorney General ST Burhanuddin said North Maluku has abundant nickel reserves. Therefore, the High Prosecutor's Office (Kejati) must maintain and map potential violations to support the Forest Area Control Task Force (PKH) and prevent leakage of state revenue.

This was conveyed by the Attorney General during a working visit and gave directions to the ranks of the North Maluku Prosecutor's Office.

"North Maluku Province is known to have abundant nickel reserves and is one of the highest nickel-producing provinces in Indonesia and also contributes to meeting nickel needs globally," said the Attorney General, Wednesday, June 18.

This is also a follow-up to the results of the 2025 Prosecutor's National Working Meeting in accordance with the Attorney General's Instruction Number 1 of 2025. Regarding the existence of the mining industry in forest areas.

To prevent illegal mining, the Attorney General hopes that the North Maluku Prosecutor's Office can optimize socialization and even law enforcement in dealing with illegal mining issues.

This was done in order to minimize state financial leakage from what the state should have obtained from tax revenue through the mining industry.

In addition, the Attorney General also revealed that currently the performance of the Prosecutor's Office has been recognized by the public. However, it is like the higher the towering tree, the stronger the wind will hit. A storm of criticism and counter-productive counterattacks against the Prosecutor's performance continues to arrive.

"In response to various counter attacks on the achievements of the Prosecutor's Office, I ask all ranks to remain focused and professional. I emphasize this point for the importance of responding to criticism with data and facts and maintaining internal solidity," said Burhanuddin.
