YOGYAKARTA - Yogyakarta Special Region Police (Polda DIY) have named seven suspects in the alleged land mafia case that befell Mbah Tupon (68), a resident of Ngentak Hamlet, Kalurahan Bangunjiwo, Bantul, DI Yogyakarta.
The Yogyakarta Regional Police Chief, Inspector General Anggoro Sukartono, said three of the seven suspects, namely BB, TR, and FT, had begun detention today.
"Today's Mbah Tupon case was detained against three suspects, and several suspects who were summoned will come today. The progress will continue to be reported," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, June 18.

In addition to the three suspects detained, investigators also scheduled an examination of two other suspects with the initials T and ID who had been recalled today. Meanwhile, another suspect still has not confirmed his presence.
"A second summons was made to carry out an examination of T, ID, with another one not yet confirmed, so today the plan to come is T with ID. I have given a summons," he said.
Previously, the Yogyakarta Regional Police raised the status of the alleged land mafia that befell Tupon Hadi Suwarno alias Mbah Tupon to the investigation level.
In handling the case, the police used three articles, namely Article 372 of the Criminal Code concerning embezzlement, 378 of the Criminal Code on fraud, and 263 of the Criminal Code regarding letter forgery.
Mbah Tupon, a resident of Ngentak Hamlet, Bangunjiwo, is suspected of being a victim of embezzlement of land certificates after his land certificate covering an area of 1,655 square meters was discovered to have changed his name to someone else and was used as a credit collateral of Rp1.5 billion in a financial institution without his knowledge.
Mbah Tupon's family is currently waiting for the return of their rights and justice for land certificates that they think have been misused by the party they believe in. The land case was then reported by Mbah Tupon's family to the Yogyakarta Regional Police.
