TANGERANG - Minister of Protection for Indonesian Migrant Workers (P2MI) Abdul Kadir Karding visited a new studio belonging to One TV News (BTV) on Pantai Indah Kapuk (PIK) 2, Tangerang, Banten on Monday (16/6/2025).

On this occasion, Minister Karding directly inspected the facilities and work processes at the studio. He also had the opportunity to experience being a news anchor or news anchor directly.

When reading one of the news segments, Minister Karding presented an inspirational story of an Indonesian retired migrant worker who succeeded in becoming a melon farmer in Blitar, East Java.

"An Indonesian migrant worker retired who previously worked in South Korea managed to become a melon farmer, and even succeeded in his village in Blitar, East Java. Thanks to his tenacity, now a man named Suparno has five green houses and produces high-quality melons, watch the news," said Minister Karding as a news anchor in the One-Seatime News and Special.

After trying to become a news anchor, Minister Karding admitted that he enjoyed the experience and appreciated the professional work behind the scenes of the broadcasting industry.

"It's fun, I think I can be a news anchor in the future taking on your roles," he said with a laugh at the News One team.

"This is an extraordinary experience. I found out that it was not easy to manage a studio and broadcast news live. But I honestly enjoy it. I even want to ask for a program if possible every Saturday and Sunday," he added jokingly but full of enthusiasm.

More than just ceremonial visits, this activity is also part of the Ministry of Protection of Indonesian Migrant Workers (KemenP2MI) efforts to strengthen collaboration with the mass media in conveying strategic information about the protection of migrant workers, as well as spreading a positive narrative about retired migrant workers who have succeeded in contributing significantly to the regional economy.

Minister Karding also emphasized the importance of making the media a partner in building the image of Indonesian migrant workers who are empowered and successful. A story like what Suparno experienced, said Minister Karding, is proof that the experience of working abroad can be a provision for building a better life in his hometown, if managed properly and given the right support.
