Chairman Of The Supreme Court Bans Judges From Showing Off Wealth: If You Have A Car, Don't Attach A Sticker

JAKARTA - Chief Justice of the Supreme Court (MA) Sunarto reminded judges to live a simple life. Judges are asked not to show off their wealth in public spaces.

Sunarto made this statement while providing guidance to 1,451 judges who had just been confirmed by the Supreme Court.

"The first aspect, what you must do is maintain personal integrity and position. Live a simple life and do not show off Hedon's lifestyle. These director generals have made circulars," said Sunarto, Friday, June 13.

Exhibiting wealth in the public sphere in question is like attaching a ' Judge' sticker in a private vehicle. According to him, this does not reflect the integrity of a judge and is very risky.

"Later, if there is a chance to have a car, do not stick the stickers of the judges. The glass in front of the judges, next to the judge, behind the judge. Your position does not need to be exhibited," he said.

"There is no need to exhibit it, but it is necessary to enjoy it by all parties. Including yourself. If it is exhibited, it is risky," continued Sunarto.

In addition, Sunarto also did not want to hear judges who used their professions to avoid sanctions, for example, traffic rules.

"You know the litigants, just use a motorbike, what, Mio, right and left of the judge's sticker, so the police don't catch it. You can't. You can't," said Sunarto.

Instead of showing off his wealth, Sunarto asked the judges to maintain independence. Because, this matter is the dignity of a judge that must be guarded.

"The most important thing I convey is independence. Attend independently without pressure or intervention. That's what you have to take care of. Because your dignity is there," he said.
