JAKARTA - Member of Commission V DPR Sudjatmiko reminded the Ministry of Transportation to carry out stricter supervision of the national aviation system following the tragedy that befell Indian airlines.

According to Miko, as he is familiarly called, passenger safety must be a top priority in every flight operation in Indonesia.

"The incident that befell Air India is a strong warning to all of us that the aircraft's surveillance and feasibility system must really be considered and tightened," said Miko, Friday, June 13.

He stressed the importance of every airline to ensure the technical feasibility of the aircraft and tighten routine checks as preventive measures to avoid accidents.

"So I think preventive measures should be emphasized more. Every airline must be responsible for ensuring its aircraft is airworthy and safe for passengers," he said.

Miko also urged the Ministry of Transportation to improve coordination with various related parties to ensure that national aviation safety standards not only meet international regulations but also run effectively in the field.

"We hope that the Ministry of Transportation will immediately take concrete steps to ensure that every flight in Indonesia is safe and reliable for the entire community," he concluded.
