Chairman of the DKI Jakarta DPRD, Khoirudin, said that his party was still waiting for proposals and studies from Betawi cultural practitioners before drafting a regional regulation (perda) that revised Regional Regulation (Perda) Number 4 of 2015 concerning the Preservation of Betawi Culture.

In the regulation, regulations will be emphasized regarding the prohibition of ondel-ondel from busking, as well as optimizing the use of ondel-ondel for cultural activities.

"We at the DPRD are just waiting for the proposal made by Betawi cultural practitioners, in this case LKP Bamus Betawi, other practitioners have conducted seminar discussion workshops many times," Khoirudin told reporters, Friday, June 13.

After a complete study, the DKI Provincial Government will prepare an academic paper before the draft regional regulation draft is discussed with the DKI DPRD

"After the draft is complete, it is submitted to the executive, then we will carry out the discussion process and we target it as soon as possible to become a regional regulation," said Khoirudin.

On that occasion, Khoirudin again reminded that ondel-ondel, which is an icon of Betawi culture, should not be used to busker.

"It's better to sing, don't use cultural instruments because it's degrading to those who have this culture. All regions have a culture, of course all regions don't want this culture to be known to sing," he said.

Previously, DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung emphasized that the ondel-ondel used as busking was not in accordance with the Betawi cultural value.

"I really hope that ondel-ondel is a dynamic, non-static culture. But it must also be appreciated for adequate appreciation. I am one of those who then ordered that, sorry, ondel-ondel not be used to look for busking, lah," said Pramono at the Hotel Borobudur, Central Jakarta, Wednesday, May 28.

Pramono revealed that his staff would socialize the ban ondel-ondel busking on the road.

Instead, the DKI Provincial Government will cooperate with Betawi cultural studios to take advantage of the use of ondel-ondel in Jakarta to appear in various activities.

"That person doesn't sing if it's fulfilled and given the opportunity to be able to appear in other spaces. So, we'll make ondel-ondel later, we'll invite various events in the capital city, a lot of events," explained Pramono.
