Smart To Move Political Coalition To Capital Pramono Anung In 2029

JAKARTA - Charta Politica researcher, Ardha Ranadireksa revealed that DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung has the opportunity to get a ticket either as a presidential candidate or vice president in the upcoming 2029 presidential election.

Because Pramono has a fairly good and long track record as one of the best PDIP cadres. In addition, Pramono is also known as a politician who is good at knitting political coalitions with various parties.

"Pramono is a politician who is able to 'surface', not only when PDIP came to power in the era of Megawati and Jokowi, but also when PIDP became an opposition in the era of Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono," he said, Sunday, June 8, 2025.

According to Ardha, Pramono's track record when he was Secretary General of PDIP and Cabinet Secretary for two periods was also positive.

Therefore, if it is considered successful in leading and building DKI Jakarta, it is not impossible that Pramono's electability will skyrocket ahead of the 2029 presidential election.

"One of the things that might hinder Mas Pram's own statement which implies that he will not go further in the national leadership contestation after becoming governor of Jakarta. This could backfire if he advances in 2029," he said.

Ardha assessed that Pramono's statement had the potential to be used as a weapon by his political opponents.

The reason is, the same thing happened when Jokowi became Governor of DKI Jakarta in 2012 and stated that he would not run as a presidential candidate in the 2014 presidential election.

"This condition can be an illustration that a mature calculation is needed if PDIP intends to propose Pramono Anung in the upcoming 2029 presidential election," he added.

Previously, the name of the Governor of DKI Jakarta Pramono Anung was mentioned as a candidate to compete in the 2029 presidential election side by side with the name of the Governor of West Java, Dedi Mulyadi.

Pramono is considered to have an advantage considering that DKI Jakarta's position is still a barometer of national politics, although not as popular as Dedi Mulyadi on social media.
