DPR Member: Local Government Meeting At Hotel Needs Guidelines So As Not To Go Too Far

Member of Commission II of the Indonesian House of Representatives Muhammad Khozin said that meetings held by local governments (Pemda) at hotels needed guidelines so as not to go too far, even though the Ministry of Home Affairs had allowed it.

Relaxation of budget efficiency for local governments is intended to support the sustainability of hotels and restaurants. However, he reminded that clear parameters are needed for the relaxation.

"In principle, we agree on the relaxation of budget efficiency. The hotel industry must be supported by the government," said Khozin, Saturday.

According to him, clear guidelines for the local government in relaxing the budget are important to issue a revision of the circular issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs. As for February 23, 2025, the Minister of Home Affairs issued Circular (SE) Number 900/833/SJ as a follow-up to Presidential Instruction (Inpres) Number 1 of 2025 concerning budget efficiency.

"Ideally, the minister issued a new SE as a change to the previous SE," he said.

He considered that the circular was needed for local governments as a guideline in the implementation of budget relaxation, especially related to the use of a ceremonial budget, study, and seminar. The reason is, in the Presidential Instruction and SE previously, it was explained that spending on ceremonial activities must be limited.

"There must be new guidelines, so that there is no confusion or negligence. The spirit of efficiency and relaxation must be measured," he said.

For this reason, he reminded the Ministry of Home Affairs to conduct a thorough study before issuing a policy so that the resulting things can be measured and benefit the public.

"In the future, in every policy issuance, there must be a mature and measurable study. There should be noFFinent impressions," he said.
