Many Sympathizers Come To Petamburan Only Want To See Rizieq Shihab

JAKARTA - The former head of the Indonesian Red Crescent Society FPI Ali Al Hamid said that many of the sympathizers who came to Petamburan during the Prophet's birthday were only to see Rizieq Shihab.

Ali's statement was made when he was a witness against the defendant Rizieq Shihab and five former FPI officials.

Initially, the panel of judges questioned the task of Hilal Merah Indonesia. Then, Ali answered that his task or activity was moving on the side of health and humanity.

In addition, Ali also mentioned that the Indonesian Hilal Merah team was also involved in the Prophet's birthday event in Petamburan on 14 November.

"Our team was there before the guests came, but I came before sunset, after Asr," Ali said at the trial at the East Jakarta District Court, Monday, May 3.

The judge detailed the questions. Ali was asked to explain how long he was at the event location to the state of the event.

"Brother there until what time?" asked the judge.

"At 2.00 WIB (or) at 3.00 WIB approximately," Ali replied.

"Does the congregation continue to be busy (arriving)?" asked the judge.

"At 22.00 WIB at 23.00 WIB many had returned home, some just wanted to see Habib (Rizieq) and went home," said Ali.

Furthermore, the panel of judges also questioned the timing of the commencement of the Prophet's birthday and the wedding ceremony.

"At 21.00 WIB that night, after that the wedding ceremony," he said.

In the alleged violation of the health protocol in Petamburan, Rizieq Shihab was charged with incitement to the appearance of a crowd at his daughter's wedding as well as commemorating the Prophet's birthday. This crowd is taking place in the midst of the COVID-19 Pandemic.

Rizieq was charged with violating Article 160 of the Criminal Code in conjunction with Article 93 of Law Number 6 of 2018 concerning Health Quarantine in conjunction with Article 55 paragraph 1 to 1 of the Criminal Code and or Article 82 paragraph 1 in conjunction with Article 59 paragraph 3 letters c and d Law Number 16 of 2017 concerning Community Organization jo Article 55 paragraph 1 to 1 KUHP in conjunction with Article 10 letter b KUHP in conjunction with Article 35 paragraph 1 KUHP.
