Chairman of the Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU) Executive Board KH Yahya Cholil Staquf (Gus Yahya) assesses Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto shows Indonesia's consistent foreign politics towards Palestine and Israel.

"President Prabowo's statement regarding Indonesia's readiness to recognize the existence of an Israeli state on the condition that it is recognized and the establishment of the existence of a Palestinian state is consistent with the policy of a two-state solution that was confirmed by Indonesia from the start," said Gus Yahya in his statement in Jakarta, Saturday.

Gus Yahya views the importance of solid consolidation from international circles so that the firmness of this attitude can be realized in real steps and agendas.

"What needs to be taken next is to conduct international raising and consolidation through legal multilateral platforms to roll out a decisive political process towards the realization of the two countries' solutions," he said.

The chairman of PBNU emphasized that the main priority at this time is to save the lives of thousands of children as well as women and people who are old and from threats of violence due to war.

This goal, he said, could be achieved by encouraging and demanding the international to comply with the existing agreement.

"The international community must consolidate to enforce existing agreements related to the Israeli-Palestinian issue with strict application to all parties," he said.

Previously, Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto emphasized Indonesia's attitude towards Palestinian independence when delivering a joint statement with French President Emmanuel Macron at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, Wednesday (28/5).

The two-state solution is supported by Indonesia to create peace between Palestine and Israel.

"In various places, in various forums, I convey Indonesia's attitude that Indonesia views only the completion of the two state solution," said Prabowo.

President Prabowo continued, "Freedom for the Palestinian people is the only way to achieve true peace."

In addition, the Head of State also stated that Indonesia and France support independent Palestinians and urged the Israeli military to immediately stop its military operations in Gaza.

"One of the most important things in my discussion with President Macron is what President Macron said about France's will to encourage a peaceful solution to the Palestinian issue," said the President of the Republic of Indonesia.

In this case, Prabowo continued, France will also continue to support the move towards Palestinian independence as an independent country.
