PPP Is Difficult To Rise When Relying On Investors

JAKARTA UIN political observer Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta, Bakir Ihsan assessed that the United Development Party (PPP) would find it difficult to rise from adversity if it only relied on the figure of the financier as chairman.

Bakir, who admitted that he had long observed PPP's actions in the national political arena, said that the party bearing the Kaaba symbol was gradually abandoned by the constituents because they were not competent in fighting for the aspirations of Islamic voters in parliament.

In addition, PPP currently does not seem to have any political differentiation with a party with a secular nationalist character. "Especially if it is currently associated with Jokowi, where now resistance and voters also vary towards Jokowi's 'cares' after he is no longer in office," he said, Friday, May 30, 2025.

He also sees that PPP is currently a dwarf because of the behavior of its political elites who are often trapped in political games that damage the party's image, including being involved in corruption cases. Especially before the congress, there were party elites who seemed to make PPP a 'market'.

"This is getting more and more degradation. Moreover, PPP is not a new party. He is a party the same age as PDIP and Golkar. The question is, why is this second party still surviving, but PPP failed. This is because of internal conflicts and poor performance," he said.

"If this continues, PPP will slowly dig into its own grave and this is very unfortunate. The Islamic Party apparently failed to care for itself according to his gender. So, whoever is offered by Jokowi or something else, then what must be considered is his capacity, integrity, and representation as a party leader based on Islam," concluded Bakir.

Previously, the Chairperson of the PPP Advisory Council, Romahurmuziy, said that there were already 8 candidates for the PPP caketum. From internal, there are the names Sandiaga Uno, Arwani Thomafi, and Taj Yasin Maimoen or Gus Yasin. From external, there is the name of Social Minister Saifullah Yusuf (Gus Ipul), adviser to the president of national defense affairs Dudung Abdurachman, Minister of Agriculture Amran Sulaiman and former Trade Minister Agus Suparmanto.
