JAKARTA - The Traffic Directorate of Polda Metro Jaya stated that the Electronic Traffic Law Enforcement (ETLE) system is only for motorized vehicle users.

"Currently, those who can 'capture' ETLE are people or perpetrators of violations of vehicles using motorized vehicles," said Director of Traffic and Traffic of Polda Metro Jaya Kombes Komarudin as reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, May 27.

Komarudin explained that ETLE will see the identity of the vehicle used in the form of a Motorized Vehicle Number Sign (TNKB).

"What in its development is now we complete it with FR (Face Recognition), for facial recognition. So pedestrians are not affected by ETLE," he said.

Komarudin also denied that there was a narrative of pedestrians who could be ticketed by ETLE because the ETLE only described all the activities on the road.

"There are pedestrians, there are cyclists, some carry carts, all of them are 'captured' or seen by ETLE, all activity on the road, only those who can 'capture' use motorized vehicles," he said.

Regarding the development of ETLE equipped with FR, Komarudin said, it aims to target motorized vehicle drivers who often change number plates.

"This FR is the same as at the airport. We are currently specializing the behavior of motorists, because many people report that their vehicle numbers are used by others. That's what we explore with FR," he said.

Komarudin added that FR-equipped ETLE currently only exists in the Sudirman-Thamrin area.
